ABOUT

MONIQUE CREBER enjoys a diverse career as a singer, pianist, producer, musical director, choir conductor, teacher, arranger, and writer.

A versatile and engaging performer, Monique possesses a rich alto singing voice that The Province described as “eerily similar to that of the late, great Karen Carpenter.” She has headlined concerts with symphony orchestras, performed national anthems for NHL games, and shared the stage with a wide range of acclaimed artists.

As a session vocalist and music producer, Monique has contributed to numerous television, film, and album projects, including My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, Martha Speaks, the Leo Award-winning score for The Collector, Disney's The Search for Santa Paws, CBC's Allegiance, and many movies for Hallmark. She has also released more than a dozen albums with her family.

With extensive experience in musical theatre, Monique has musically directed productions including Fame, The Wizard of Oz, 13 The Musical, Grease, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and The Sound of Music. Her stage credits include “Marmee” in Little Women: The Musical and “Mrs. Greer” in Annie.

Originally from Winnipeg, Monique owned a 500-student music school and was an education consultant for Technics Music Canada. After moving to Vancouver, she founded Creber Music Academy and taught music and performing arts for Mulgrave School, Brockton School, and North Shore Music Academy. Monique currently directs three ensembles: Cypress Singers (women's vocal ensemble), CM Singers (youth choir), and the St. David's Choir. She also serves as Musical Director at St. David's United Church.

Monique especially treasures performing alongside her husband, Grammy-nominated and Juno Award-winning pianist and composer Michael Creber, and their daughter, award-winning singer, songwriter, and actress Michelle Creber. Together, the Creber family co-host annual concerts including The Magic of Christmas and In the Spotlight.

“Monique’s voice is…honey and warm butterscotch poured over the tip of an iceberg on a starry summer night.”

“I'd love to superimpose two songs sung by Monique & Karen Carpenter because I think it's remarkable how close it is... it's the gift Monique has in the tone of her voice.”    – Rick Cluff, CBC Radio’s Early Edition
